“Diagnosis Negrosis”: The Hereditary Predisposition to Social Dysfunction "Negro/Negrosis refers to a complex set of pathologies observed among a significant number of African Americans. It is marked by behaviors, character traits, and social conditions that, within psychological or medical frameworks, manifest as symptoms of a congenital syndrome. These symptoms are reflected in abnormal and dysfunctional thinking and behavior."

Imam Mohammed's transformative use of language enabled the Nation of Islam to transition from a spiritual-emotionally focused group to one with a broader understanding of human interactions and societal integration. Through strategic linguistic changes, he liberated the Nation of Islam from its ideological constraints.

The prime problem that Imam Warith Deen Mohammed (W.D. Mohammed) faced as the successor to Elijah Muhammad as the leader of the Nation of Islam was how to transition the organization from its Black supremacist ideology and symbolic language, which were deeply embedded in its members' psychological framework, to a more authentic understanding of orthodox Islam. This was a complex task because the Nation of Islam had developed a unique belief system that was heavily influenced by symbolic and mythological narratives that were far from mainstream Islam.
